Daughter of the Dust - SHOWTIME! (19 photos)
Daughter of the Dust - musical
“Daughter of the Dust” is an original country musical about a emerging star, Trixie Dixon, who is about to make her big break at the Shindiggler…as long as her mother doesn’t show up and ruin everything! With eight original songs inspired by the classic country tunes of Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, “Daughter of the Dust” shook the house with numbers like “Just the Tip” and “Man’s World“. It had it’s first workshop production on August 25 – 28 2011 at the Bread & Circus theatre, where it performed to full houses and received praises from Mooney on Theatre, who hailed it as a “country musical masterpiece”. With a raunchy sense of humour, “Daughter of the Dust” is a heartfelt, at times outrageous, take on country music and the people who make it.

That THing You Watch (11 photos)
Our newest project, “That Thing You Watch” is an experimental project that combines a series of comedy sketches into a short film format. Influenced by “Kids in the Hall”, “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, “Mr. Show”, and “Jam”, it’s an exciting journey that exploits the ridiculous and bizarre elements of every day life. A strange narrative of lecherous documentary filmmakers, insane cabinet ministers, hockey players in existential crisis and a girl who compulsively chases a tennis ball, “That Thing You Watch” is a cross section of a world that went over the edge a while ago.

We found all of these objects sitting on street corners - a luggage full of fake money, promoting a Jelly Stone album from 2001; a wedding invitation with a reception at Casa Loma from 2003, complete with kids scribbles on it; a rough draft of a last will and testament from 2009. We interviewed people about these items, asking if they reminded them or connected in some way to things in their own lives, and why they might have been thrown away. The answers were wonderful, and we were able to gather many stories from people's lives, revealing snippets of who they are and how they think about childhood, death and marriage. These objects were put on display at Labspace Studios, with the interviews collaged together and played on mp3 players headsets. Here are some images from the event - Enjoy!
